It's a surreal feeling, sitting inside the house of one of America's most beloved and iconic presidents. In just a few short months since completing New York City's Makeup Designory, Dani Scarcella finds herself applying makeup on Jean Kennedy Smith, President John F. Kennedy's sister for a documentrary film. It's a pivotal moment, validating Dani's natural talent and sending her on her way to a promising career in the beauty industry.
Before she came to be one of New York City's go-to professional makeup artists, Dani grew up on Staten Island, where she flourished working in a high-end salon, before being sidelined by an accident that left her with a broken wrist. Taking time off to recover, she reevaluated her career goals and landed herself at New York's Makeup Designory (MUD Soho), an intensive makeup artistry program, and the first stepping-stone on her road to success.
Dani graduated from MUD in 2011 and was instantaneously catapulted into the TV world, where she has quickly made a name for herself as one of the most
sought after artists in the industry, bringing an unmatched level of professionalism and positive energy to every set. Aside from her work on Jean Kennedy Smith, Dani has been a beauty expert for Cosmopolitan magazine and has worked on the entire panel of celebrity guests for Oprah's "The Life You Want" tour. In addition, she is signed by the award-winning agency, La'Bella Mafia, where she holds the title of Artistic Director in New York.
They say if you find a job you love, you'll never work a day in your life. That statement rings true to Dani, who's had a life-long love affair with art. Her natural talent and eye for detail came from her family, who encouraged her artistic endeavors, allowing her to paint and draw freely as a child. Keeping true to the family ethos, Dani spends her free time being a cool aunt to her makeup-obsessed nieces, often becoming the human easel for their creations.
Dani's skill is matched only by her passion and upbeat personality. As her list of happy clients grows by the day, she looks forward to bringing out the expression, freedom and boundless possibilities that makeup provides on each and every project.
